Acuario Nacional de Santo Domingo
The National Aquarium of the Dominican Republic is one of the aquarium 's most comprehensive whole region of the Caribbean and is a widely popular place, for both Dominicans and tourists from around the world.
Its inauguration took place on November 8, 1990 by the then president of the Dominican Republic Joaquin Balaguer.
Bounded on the south by the Caribbean Sea and he north by Avenida Spain in the municipality of Santo Domingo East, Santo Domingo province.
This marine zoo has a territorial dimension of approximately 34,500 sqm . The amount currently has 90 tanks and 7 ponds which distributed about 500 thousand gallons of seawater and 30,000 gallons of fresh water. It also has an underwater tunnel where you observe a wide range of sharks, tarpon, and turtles, among others. It also offers an auditorium, which has a capacity of about 100 people, and is used for instruction and information about the life habilits of varios species.
